MUSEE NATIONAL DE CERAMIQUE SEVRES  (Paris, France)
The Museum stands adjacent to the Sevres manufactory and its original building (now a graduate school). Its Renaissance-style building houses one of the largest ceramic collections in the world, some 50,000 pieces of faience, ceramics and Sevres porcelain. Among these are several pieces from the Blue Cameo Service, ordered by Catherine the Great in the late 1770's. (The full 60-person service consisted of 744 pieces and most are now housed in the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.)
The Museum's website includes selected images of the collections. If visiting in person, look for items such as the famous milk bowls made for Marie Antoinette's dairy at Rambouillet; or visit the showroom to purchase your own modern Sevres.
