Manufacture nationale de Sevres  (Paris, France)
The Sevres porcelain factory was established in the Chateau of Vincennes in 1740. It soon acquired royal patronage, was bought by Louis XV in 1759, moved to Sevres and is now the property of the French government. Browse the site for further information, slideshows and images of wares for sale, or inquire about group tours of their "workshops and production techniques".
Collectors admire the quality of Sevres early soft paste porcelain; later hard paste wares are also unique, hand painted and finely gilded. When visiting don't miss the outstanding collection in the adjacent Musee national de ceramique-Sevres.
