Imperial Porcelain Factory  (Saint Petersburg, Russia)
The IFZ was the "first porcelain factory in Russia", founded by the Czars. Nationalized after the Revolution, it became known as the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory, reverting to its original name in Nov. 2005. It produced outstanding work, notably its elaborate dinner services. Present wares include replicas and a wide range of hand-painted table-, gift- and decorative porcelain, "alabaster" and bone china.
The Museum of Porcelain, now administered by the Hermitage, remains on the premises and houses over 30,000 items from the factory's repository and the Winter Palace. Two rooms showcase more than 600 exhibits, with a third room planned (further information on the Hermitage site).
The Factory also gives guided tours, lists outlets, and has an online catalog and shop.
