DRESDNER MOLKEREI GEBRUEDER PFUND (Dresden, Germany)
Pfund's Dairy is described in the Guinness Book of Records as the most beautiful dairy store in the world. The shop, opened in 1892, has walls, ceiling, floors and counters covered with over 3,500 hand-painted Villeroy & Boch tiles. View these in the online panorama and images, along with Art Nouveau-style enamelled sculptures.
The site also includes a history of the firm, plus an online shop (some details also in English & French). http://www.pfunds.de/ In German.

Dresdner Porzellan (Saechsische Porzellan-Manufaktur Dresden GmbH. Freital, Germany)
In 1872 porcelain painter Carl Thieme set up a factory in Potschappel (now part of Dresden), initially imitating the Meissen style and trademark. The SP Dresden (Saxon Porcelain Dresden) mark came later; today the manufactory is the only one allowed to use the name Dresden. Their designs are rich and colourful; each painter has a distinctive style and mark, and commissions are also accepted.
The manufactory made only one miniature service, in 1924, for the dolls house of Britain's Queen Mary; plus a new edition for the 75th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. Visit their site to order catalogues; view images of the early factory, the manufacturing process, and selected wares; or browse the linked Japanese site. The factory also offers tours, and has a painting school. http://www.dresdner-porzellan.com/ In German.
